Places to visit
There are so many great places to visit in the Sierra Mountains other than the Yosemite National Park. Here are just a few of our favorites:
- Lake Tahoe: This huge lake is perfect for swimming, fishing, and boating.
- The American River: Perfect for rafting and kayaking.
- Mt. Whitney: The tallest mountain in the contiguous United States.
But the Sierra’s are far more than just a sightseeing opportunity, there are some incredible adventures to be had too.
Hiking in the Sierra’s
One of our favorite hikes in the Sierra Mountains is the Tahoe to Yosemite Trail. This trail spans over 200 miles from Lake Tahoe to Yosemite National Park. Along the way, you will be treated to stunning views of alpine lakes, granite peaks, and waterfalls.
It’s a perfect day for adventurers of all kinds and levels of experience.
If you’re feeling really ambitious, you can even try your hand at summiting Mt. Whitney, the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States.
River Rafting in the Sierra’s
In addition to hiking, the Sierra Mountains are also a great place for river rafting. One of our favorite rivers to raft is the American River. It’s an incredible experience that everyone should try at least once.
